Sunday Sounds

Sunday sounds like an early morning, soft footsteps, crumpled paper, cracking of dried blackberry stems, giggles from 3 extra kids, whistles from the t.v. refs, a gentle heartbeat grateful for this day, and some Kings of Convenience.

Just a few things Friday

I have a very good friend whom I love very much.  The only thing that drives me nuts about her is that she has a birthday in December. So, every year I rack my brains for a cool birthday gift AND then a cool Christmas gift.  But, 2 years ago she went and had a little bundle of joy (whom I also love very much).  This bundle of joy came... can you guess when?  Yes, in December!

Poor December babies.  Their birthdays come during the busiest time of the year.

With that said and done I hope you enjoy some of these web goodies I've been eyeing as gifts. Thank goodness my friend doesn't read my blog!

Jane Austen Tarot cards.  How cool are these?!

Jane Austen puzzle book.  Can you tell I like themed gifts?

A Book of Sleep by Il Sung Na.  The illustrations are the sweetest.

Handmade knitted owl hat.  You can get the pattern at Knit Culture.

These cute boot slippers at Amazon.  They are only $7.56 right now!

And, this old school Pearl Jam jam because it reminds me of my friend and driving around town on a Friday night screaming this song and feeling very much alive.

Embracing color

When I choose yarn for my knitting projects I tend to lean to the earthy browns, greens, and blues.  And my projects are typically one color of each, not all colors together.  Lately, however, I've been drawn to brighter colors and color blends. It's been fun to experiment with color.

I'm embracing color in my newest cabled beanie.  It's a simple and fast knit and the fit is great for my smaller head (I chose the S/M cast on). You can find the pattern on kanitted.

If I get lost in the woods, I think I'll be easier to find now. :)

Sunday sounds

Sunday sounds like the clickety clack of knitting needles, fallen leaves crunching beneath my rain boots, laughter from the kiddos, cheers from TV land football fans, and a broken rendition of Coldplay's "Fix You" on the piano (Audrey is hoping to learn it).  A good Sunday indeed.

Just a few things Friday

This outfit.

This Tedx talk because we all have closets we need to come out of.  And "hard is hard".

These life lessons from the wonderful Mister Rogers.

These printable notes of Thankfulness from hello bee.  They're free!

This poster.

Now whenever I hear Drake's song, "Hold on, we're going home", I laugh to myself because all I can picture is Drake riding in the front crate of Elliot's bicycle.  Next time you hear the song just try and not picture him as E.T.

Roads

I am grateful for roads... wet roads, bare roads, dry roads, rocky roads.  I am grateful for literal roads and symbolic roads.  I am grateful for roads that lead me home and roads that take me away.  I am grateful for roads that lead nowhere because these are the roads that help me discover where I really want to be and what I really want to be seeing in my life.  I am also grateful for roads that lead me to my destination. These roads keep me committed and determined. And I am grateful for roads that exist in my imagination. These are roads just for me.
