Nice to meet you, Me at 36. I've been waiting for you. or EDIM: VEINTE Y NUEVE

Love after Love

The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

-Derek Walcott

Country roads take me home... or EDIM:VEINTE Y TRES

For you shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. -Bible, Isaiah 55:12

A fairy good day or EDIM: VEINTE

Faeries, come take me out of this dull world,
For I would ride with you upon the wind,
Run on the top of the dishevelled tide,
And dance upon the mountains like a flame.

-William Butler Yeats

Say, it's only a paper moon
Sailing over a cardboard sea
But it wouldn't be make-believe
If you believed in me

-Harold Arlen

Just out the front door... or EDIM: DIEZ Y SIETE

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.
Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.
The winds will blow their own freshness into you...
while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.

Peace, Yo. or EDIM: DIEZ Y SEIS

If there is to be peace in the world,
There must be peace in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations,
There must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities,
There must be peace between neighbors.
If there is to be peace between neighbors,
There must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home,
There must be peace in the heart.

The morning cup or EDIM: QUINCE

I am fairly certain that given a Cape and a nice tiara I could save the world. -Curly Girl Designs

Ah, yes. Some days I really feel like that. And the morning cup of coffee helps too.

Hammy!! or EDIM: CATORCE

Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms. -George Eliot

Hamsters are cute. I like looking at their little faces and imagining their minds racing as fast as their hamster wheel. They are spastic and furry and sweet and cute. It's too bad we can't cuddle them. Phooey.

Building Blocks or EDIM: TRECE

Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures. -John F. Kennedy

This is one of many structures Luke built with his blocks this afternoon. As he quietly sat thinking about his designs he seemed content and at peace. Perhaps I'll join him...

To read or not to read or EDIM: DOCE

We get no good
By being ungenerous, even to a book,
And calculating profits,
-- so much help
By so much reading. it is rather when
We gloriously forget ourselves and plunge
Soul-forward, headlong, into a book's profound,
Impassioned for its beauty and salt of truth --
'T is then we get the right good from a book.
-Elizabeth Barrett Browning

I have thoroughly been enjoying Jodi Picoult's, My Sister's Keeper. It's a story so real and yet so unbelievable. I am completely immersed in each character. Picoult unfolds her story brilliantly and I hope the movie coming out in July does the book justice.

Atta Boy! or EDIM: ONCE

Boys are found everywhere -- on top of, underneath, inside of, climbing on, swinging from, running around or jumping to. Mothers love them, little girls hate them, older sisters and brothers tolerate them, adults ignore them and Heaven protects them. A boy is Truth with dirt on its face, Beauty with a cut on its finger, Wisdom with bubble gum in its hair and the Hope of the future with a frog in its pocket. -Alan Marshall Beck

As I watch my little boy grow I weep tears of sadness for what once was but I also weep tears of joy for what I envision him to become.

I am a Mom or EDIM: DIEZ

Before you were conceived I wanted you. Before you were born I loved you. Before you were here an hour I would die for you. This is the miracle of love. -Maureen Hawkins

I am a Mom. Being one makes my heart sing. I am a Mom. And I wouldn't change that for anything.

5.09.2009

Moms that I know or EDIM: NUEVE

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. -Tenneva Jordan

I am grateful for all the moms I know in my life (my real Mom and my sister Mom in particular). I grow from them, learn from them and find love from them. Happy Early Mothers Day to the Moms who continue to go without so someone doesn't have to!!

I walk from the center or EDIM: SIETE

Our Being is a brilliant pattern of energies: a spectrum of possibilities. The mystic discovers symbols. . . Symbols are windows through which we can view the Essential Nature of our Being. —Ngakpa Chogyam

A day of Mandala coloring helped center us all. It was fun to see what colors and patterns (or no patterns) emerged from our being. Print and color your own Mandala here. It will quiet you and those restless ones for a few minutes.

A penny for your thoughts or EDIM: CINCO

There's no need for a piece of sculpture in a home that has a cat. -Wesley Bates

Our cat Max likes to sit. I mean he likes to sit like regular human folk. We sometimes think it's rather impolite since he exposes a little too much of himself, but who can't help and laugh when they see how comfortably odd he looks.

The power of hugs or EDIM: QUATRO

This is a pic of the "hug boxes" our Girl Scout Brownies made today. I saw the idea on eHow and knew it would be perfect for the girls to give to their moms. Instead of using wooden boxes I made paper boxes.

A hug is worth a thousand words -Unknown

Reading or EDIM: TRES

I like watching my kids read. You can see their little minds turning and turning as you look at their faces. I wonder what wonderful images are being manifested in those moments.

Animals on Parade or EDIM: DOS

Every year our town has a rodeo. Yesterday Audrey made some homemade clay at the rodeo and this morning the kids had a blast using their imagination as they created some animals. What fun!

Lots of people talk to animals.... Not very many listen, though.... That's the problem. -Benjamin Hoff, The Tao of Pooh

A flower a day keeps the heart bright and gay or EDIM: UNO

I've been trying to quiet my mind. But, it's not obeying 100%. It's a blabbermouth of ideas and thoughts lately. And every now and then I can make out what it's trying to tell me. So, that brings me to this post. This post on May 1st. By the way, Happy May Day!!

A few days ago I was reading through blogs and came upon the most cool post. French Toast Girl wrote about joining her in her Every Day in May "challenge".

The idea is to commit to create something every day in May. This sounds like something I need to do. I will try to take a picture of something in my life every day, find a suitable quote and share it with you all. With May Day on the brain I snapped a quick shot of this little flower my lovely Audrey picked for me. It brightened my heart and made me smile. I hope it makes you smile too.

Flowers seem intended for the solace of ordinary humanity. -John Ruskin
